What is one of your favorite things about being a teacher?
The sparkle in the eye of the student when they grasp a concept!
How has Curriculum Crafter influenced your planning process?
Alignment of content expectations for my grade level, releasing me to my passion of teaching. CC is the bases for which I have been able to develop my own approach and style of teaching, using suggestions and links provided, matching the state content expectations.
What suggestions would you give to new users of Curriculum Crafter?
In the elementary, I would encourage teachers to look at misunderstanding and concepts students have in science for a clear understanding of material.
Any Additional Comments?
CC has been an instrument for me to stay updated with state bench marks and content expectations during our seven year review process. Staying current with state changes and requirements has been helpful.
Blissfield Elementary School’s curriculum has been aligned to state content expectations using an online website, Curriculum Crafter (CC). The CC website is at the cutting edge of state and national science core standards, adjusting to expectations when they change. We are current to those changes when they occur. The website if very helpful to meeting the need of teaching common core standards. Enduring understandings, essential questions, prerequisite vocabulary, enrichment vocabulary, concepts and assessments are all part of each unit. The units are filled with listen common core standards to help the teacher insure valid content is taught. Lesson are presented with links to various websites. The unit plan also gives misunderstandings and help information about the topic! Curriculum Crafter website help with my daily lesson plans to insure I am meeting the education needs of my students not only in science, but in all subject areas.
